More than a match

When Victoria Park opened its gates for the first time, it fulfilled a decade-long dream to give Guernsey football a home of its own. As a founding partner of the stadium and long-term sponsor of Guernsey FC, Hand Picked Hotels is proud to have helped bring this dream to life, providing a home fortress for the islands’ beloved Green Lions and Lionesses and inspiring future generations to fall in love with the beautiful game.

From the beginning, Victoria Park’s vision has always been clear — to provide a welcoming and inclusive community hub with football at its heart. From those playing at the highest level to grassroots beginners and passionate fans, the stadium has more than delivered on that ambition. Its transformation into a best-in-class facility has elevated island sport, enabling the Guernsey FA to create and nurture lifelong journeys within the game. Victoria Park really is a football home for all.

‘To have a stadium of this standard here in Guernsey is fantastic and such a positive for boys and girls developing their skills and beginning their football journeys.’

— Maya Le Tissier

Perhaps its greatest achievement, however, is providing Guernsey FC with its first-ever permanent home ground, and the rewards of that significant chapter are already proving rich. Tony Vance, Guernsey FC’s men’s team manager, explains: “I often talk about Victoria Park as a complete game-changer for us, but what it has delivered to the Club and our fans cannot be underestimated. The incredible facilities here provide everyone with a fantastic matchday experience, but the real winner is that we now have a base — a home where we can train and play on a world-class professional surface. The value of that is priceless.”

Just one year in, the results speak for themselves. Guernsey FC’s men’s and women’s teams have both enjoyed phenomenal success since moving to the venue, winning 80 per cent of home games to date, while Guernsey’s men’s and women’s senior Muratti teams both took home the silverware for the first time in 25 years in 2025.

Facilities designed to inspire

Yet Victoria Park’s impact stretches far beyond senior football. Its state-of-the-art 3G pitch is helping to inspire and develop the Alex Scotts and Maya Le Tissiers of the future. Junior and academy players can now play on an elite surface, supporting their progression into Guernsey FC’s future stars and encouraging new generations of islanders to explore careers within football — from coaching and physiotherapy to refereeing and management.

All of this isn’t possible without continuous support, as Tony explains: “Without sustained sponsorship, I honestly do not know where we would be. With the added commercial security Victoria Park provides, the Club is now not only sustainable, but we can also build on these foundations to push us to another level. Personally, Victoria Park is everything and more than I ever dreamt of when I began this role, so it fills me with pride every time I am here.”

Not just a stadium

Victoria Park may have begun as a long-held dream, but it is fast becoming something even more meaningful — not just a stadium, but an emblem of what Guernsey football can achieve when community, ambition and support come together. It stands as an enduring symbol of progress, pride and possibility, bringing people together from all walks of life and creating a shared sense of identity. As it continues to evolve, Victoria Park promises to play an even greater role in shaping the game’s future on the island for generations to come.
