Luxury, Naturally

Luxury should never cost the earth. Across our 21 country house hotels, spa retreats and coastal escapes, sustainability is no longer a quiet ambition: it's an everyday standard.

Luxury should never cost the earth. Across our 21 country house hotels, spa retreats and coastal escapes, sustainability is no longer a quiet ambition: it’s an everyday standard. Green Tourism is recognised globally as a leading sustainability accreditation partner, assessing businesses against rigorous standards built around three interconnected pillars: people, place and planet.

Working with an organisation of this calibre has helped us sharpen our focus, challenge our assumptions and embed more responsible practices throughout our hotels and the communities around them.

Six of our hotels — Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa, Buxted Park Hotel, Crathorne Hall Hotel, Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa, Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa and Rhinefield House Hotel — were awarded Gold status, the highest level of environmental excellence. 14 achieved Silver, with one Bronze. A collective achievement, and one we’re immensely proud of.

But for our guests, this isn’t about certificates: it’s about experience; its seasonal produce thoughtfully sourced: wildflower meadows humming with life; energy-efficient systems working quietly behind the scenes; dedicated sustainability teams in every hotel ensuring that care for people, place and planet shapes the way we operate — every single day.

Hospitality has the power to inspire. By promoting low-impact activities, expanding EV charging, investing in water-saving technologies and supporting local communities, we’re working to make sustainable travel feel seamless, not sacrificial.

As our Chairman, Julia Hands, says, “We are delighted that our collection of Hand Picked Hotels has been recognised by Green Tourism for our commitment to more responsible and sustainable hospitality. This accreditation marks an encouraging first milestone on our journey and reflects the passion of our teams across our hotels, who are helping us make meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future for our guests, our colleagues and the places we call home.”

There is always more to do. But this recognition affirms that luxury and responsibility can, and should, go hand in hand.

For us, caring for the places we call home is simply part of how we welcome you.
